The commissioner's office has suspended Rays minor league catcher Marcos Torres 50 games for testing positive for Methylhexaneamine, a performance-enhancer, in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Torres was 0-for-4 for the Rays' Rookie-level Gulf Coast League club. He had signed as a nondrafted free agent out of Felician (N.J.), where he was the school's all-time leader in hits.
