Triple-A All-Star Game: PCL Roster Update

The Pacific Coast League today announced that six replacement players have been added to its all-star game roster. Reinforcements come to replace players who are injured or who have been called to the big leagues.

The 11 players who were selected for the contest but who will not be participating in Wednesday's Triple-A all-star game: Steve Edlefsen, Fresno (Giants); Luke French, Tacoma (Mariners); Jordan Norberto, Reno (D-backs); Pedro Strop, Oklahoma City (Rangers); Rich Thompson, Salt Lake (Angels); Chris Davis, Oklahoma City (Rangers); Brad Eldred, Colorado Springs (Rockies); Tyler Greene, Memphis (Cardinals); Brett Wallace, Las Vegas (Blue Jays); Brian Bogusevic, Round Round (Astros); and Chris Lubanski, Las Vegas (Blue Jays).

Friday's Cliff Lee trade between the Mariners and Rangers directly impacted the PCL all-star game roster. With Lee removed from Seattle's rotation, they turned to Tacoma's French to make a spot start. Meanwhile, the Rangers, without Justin Smoak, called up Chris Davis to man first base. The Rockies also called up first baseman Brad Eldred over the weekend, removing him from the all-star game.

As a result of all the last-minute dropouts, the PCL will be playing with a short bench. In all, they'll have five fewer players (now at 25) than they had listed on their initial roster (30). That breaks down as one fewer pitcher, three fewer infielders and one fewer outfielder.

We'll have updates to the International League roster when available.

Do you know if Wallace is injured or has actually been called up?

Wallace has a wrist injury and will not play for the PCL in tomorrow’s all-star game. Too bad. The game could use a little prospect power.
