It is surprising that Trout is not in the starting lineup for the US squad- but that the wrong Peguero is at DH for the World squad…..Francisco is a much better outfielder than Carlos
Posted by Jim Tobias | July 11, 2010 at 5:28 am | ShortcutThat's funny, Carlos Peguero actually looked very good in LF at the Futures Game. Solid routes, runs well, good arm and showed alertness on the play where he threw behind Dom Brown. He routinely looked to check runners on throws in before wheeling to throw to the correct infielder. I'd say he's actually a fairly heady defender, and, while still not a complete player at the plate, one of the more interesting guys on a weaker-than-usual World team. His still-high strikeout total is a testament to his inability to cover the outer half of the plate or deal with advanced breaking stuff, but he's nearly matched last year's walk total in 179 fewer plate appearances and looks to be consolidating those gains.
