It seemed weird to see the word hate being used in a sentence that didn't contain the name Scott Boras. Not used to that on this site. But it was a fan of a NY team, so I am not surprised. Since Sri K is such an expert, maybe he can help me with my 18th round pick in our league Minor League Free Agent Draft. I need to decide between shortstops Jorge Alcantara (nyy), Juan Ciriaco (col), Daniel Castro (atl), pitchers Denny Peralta (tex), Taiki Kawasaki (mets), Frank de los Santos (tb), Jan Rehacek (min), Ryan Smith (cin), outfielder Ping-Hong Chi (pit), or catcher Luis Villegas (kc). Sri K – you're either an idiot, or just a hater. Take a moment and read up on who you're talking about…Schafer was injured after about 4 games last year. He tried to play through it, and then was shut down for just about the entire season. Watch a game and see what the hype is about with Heyward. He has PATIENCE. Power. Batting Average. Speed - both in the field and on the bases. Defense. Last I checked, that's worth getting excited about in a player. Oh yeah – he's 21 this season…and has shown all these parts of his game at each stop the last 3 years in the Minor Leagues. Let's not even talk about his great makeup and work ethic (and respect for the veterans) that has all the brass impressed. Dom Brown = Garbage?!?! Sure, he's mostly been projection for the last couple years…but the kid can play. He's a late bloomer (see 6'5", skinny as a rail since high school), but he's an athlete with a strong arm and emerging offense…and he's starting to put it together at the upper levels. Just wait until he puts on some strength/mass to his body. Ummm, now, let's see – what has Fernando Martinez done so far - hit a TON in Spring Training against pitchers that aren't warmed up yet – and oh yeah – he hit .176/.242/.275 in 91 AB's last year in the Majors. Wow – that's something to get excited about. Martinez may well be a star in time – but let's not get overly excited about a Mets prospect killing it in Spring Training – can you name the last one that actually did WELL during the season?…and DEFINITELY stop hating on players that you apparently know nothing about. At this point, Mejia is your best bet for a Mets MiLB player to make a splash in the Bigs, with F-Mart right behind him.

I'd like to know how Jeremy Hellickson wasn't considered in the top-20 of BA's rookie predicitons article?!?! Any reasoning behind that decision to keep him off the list? He hasn't given up an earned run yet this spring, and has a legit chance at making the club in some capacity before September call-ups.

…and not including Fernando among the top right field prospects in the NL East is a little silly too. Yes, he´s been injured, but he´s only 21 and has consistently played pretty well agains guys 3-4 years older than himself. When healthy I´d put him up against any of those guys (while acknowledging that Heyward is probably the top prospect in the game).

There´s no reason to dis Jason Heyward when defending Fernando Martinez– there´s room for more than one. But it is unfair to mention Martinez under the ¨Rough Spring¨ banner, when the guy is hitting over .500 with several Home Runs. Yes, he will start in AAA, but not because of his performance this spring, rather, because the Mets want him to stay healthy and get his confidence back before bringing him up. All I can say is that Francoeur had better not get complacent. And if Beltran can´t come back and be effective, his contract is up after 2011…

your insane if u say heyward is gonna fall flat on his face he is compared to the likes of griffey jr in his prime he is going to destroy the mets for years to come and dominic brown is a monster …compared to someone who played for your 1986 (last world series championship) darryl strawberry….

Its official – Baseball America's entire staff hates Fernando Martinez – he has had arguably the best spring of anyone listed – and all he gets is a blurb about how he will start in the minors even though the mets have a need for impact bats – regardless of his numbers they were going to send him to AAA - not because he is not ready to contribute …The kid is going to be a star – can't wait to see Heyward fall flat on his face like the last 10 position hitters atlanta has hyped up since andruw jones – didnt they hype up jordan schafer last year – and he promptly hit a robust .205 with very little power…p.s. Dominic brown is garbage give me a break..

I think Strasburg has a four-year contract, so unless he stays in the minors until next year, the reason for delaying his debut has to do with when he becomes a free agent, not when he can go to arbitration.
