A question to readers: Do you know where to find accurate player statistics (with English text) for Korea Baseball Organization or the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan? We're in the process of editing our Super Register and that's a question that comes up each year.

Check out the Transactions Glossary for the key to deciphering the various inactive lists presented here.

Atlanta Braves
Signed: RHP Chris Resop

Boston Red Sox
Signed:
C Gustavo Molina

Chicago White Sox
Signed:
OF Brady Clark
Outrighted to Triple-A, removed from 40-man: C Cole Armstrong

Cincinnati Reds
Signed:
RHP Jose Arredondo

After a splendid rookie season with the Angels in ’08, Arredondo appeared poised to take over a high-leverage bullpen role in Anaheim. But then Arredondo slumped badly in ’09 as he dealt with elbow discomfort. The club non-tendered him in December, and the Reds signed him even knowing he'll miss 2010 while he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Cleveland Indians
Signed:
2B Mark Grudzielanek

Colorado Rockies
Signed:
C Robby Hammock, C Paul Lo Duca, OF Jay Payton

Detroit Tigers
Signed:
RHP Ruddy Lugo, LHP Sam Narron, C Mike Rabelo, 1B Cesar Nicolas

A Diamondbacks' fifth-round pick in ’04, Nicolas spent last season playing indy ball after Arizona released him during spring training. The 27-year-old batted .335 with 14 homers and 103 RBIs in 96 games for Grand Prairie of the American Association. He hit well in 10 games in the Atlantic League to close the year.

Florida Marlins
Signed:
RHP Brian Lawrence (re-signed), 3B Lee Mitchell (re-signed), OF Jason Delaney

Houston Astros
Signed:
RHP B.J. Hagen, RHP Shane Loux, RHP Jared Wells, OF Cory Sullivan

Hagen, 23, signed his first deal with an affiliated club after playing in the Frontier League last year. The Charlotte product appeared in 29 games for Traverse City, striking out 38 and walking 16 in 40 innings. Opponents hit just .178 as he compiled a 2.48 ERA.

Kansas City Royals
Released:
LHP John Flanagan

Los Angeles Angels
Signed:
RHP Juan Mateo

Los Angeles Dodgers
Signed:
RHP Scott Dohmann, RHP Harvey Garcia (re-signed), RHP Russ Ortiz, LHP John Koronka, SS Nick Green, OF Michael Restovich

RHP D.J. Carrasco

St. Louis Cardinals
Signed:
2B Kevin Howard

San Diego Padres
Released:
RHP Walter Silva, 1B Brian Joynt

San Francisco Giants
Released:
RHP Andrew Kerth, LHP Steven Calicutt, C Adam Witter, 2B Brooks Lindsley, 3B Evan McArthur, OF Caleb Curry, OF Ryan Mantle
Reinstated from inactive list: RHP Andrew Kerth

Texas Rangers
Signed:
3B Lee Soto, SS Travis Adair

Soto earned notoriety as a Blue Jays farmhand as a $600,000 bust. He signed out of the Dominican in April ’05 and hit all of .201/.248/.293 in 539 pro plate appearances through ’08.

Toronto Blue Jays
Signed:
RHP Shawn Hill, RHP Steven Register, RHP Bob Zimmermann, OF Jeremy Reed

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Hill returns to his Canadian roots. Injuries have hampered the 28-year-old to the point where the Blue Jays would rejoice if he gave them 97 effective innings, as he did the Nationals in ’07.

Zimmermann returns to affiliated ball after spending his ’09 with York of the Atlantic League. The results weren't pretty: 4.43 ERA in 38 games, 61-to-60 strikeout-to-walk ratio and seven homers in 89 innings.

Washington Nationals
Signed:
OF Chris Duncan

I would suggest contacting the writer of this web site: http://koreabaseball.blogspot.com/
He may know where to look, because other than one site that hasn't been updated for 2009, I have no idea where to find KBO stats in English.

Just a little mistake you made there Matt,
Scott Dohmann is not re-signed as a Dodger, he played on the D-Backs AAA squad last year.

I write on Asian and Asian-American baseball players for a couple of different websites (Baseball Daily Digest and my aasportsexaminer.com page). For KBO stats, I typically have to translate the KBO site through Google, a pretty laborious process unless you're checking individual players. I have a contact in Korea who supplies me with monthly updates on the KBO for my examiner page; not sure where he gets his info.
CPBL stats–or even information–on the league in any language is well-nigh impossible to find, from what I've found.
Even NPB (Japanese baseball) started an English version of its site only last year, and that only has 2009 stats for league leaders. There are a handful of other sites for Japanese stats, but they're also lacking.
Hope this helps; let me know if you need more info.
