Joan -
I'm not positive on this, but I think it comes down to the word "reside."

I'm not sure about that. There seem to be many more foreign players on the rosters this year. I just wondered if maybe they changed the eligibility rules but didn't update that info on the website.

Can someone at BA help with this? I can't seem to get anyone who might know to give me an answer.

I think that rule pertains to foreign players not affiliated with MLB teams. There are a couple of Japanese players this year, for instance. It doesn't matter where minor leaguers originally came from, such as Starlin Castro.

That is a very impressive group of young men. But I don't think it rivals the Futures game simply because there are usually so very few foreign players in the AFL.

Which makes me wonder why the Indians' Carlos Rivero is even on the Saguaros roster. He's Venezuelan.

From the AFL page on MLB's website...

"One foreign player is allowed, as long as the player does not reside in a country that participates in winter ball, as part of the Caribbean Confederation or the Australian winter league."

I'm confused. I'm happy for him, but I'm confused.
