Should the Indians have bothered protecting Hodges? His AAA OPS was 620; he made 15 errors in 50 games; and he suffered another injury-plagued season. Would anyone have drafted him? If so why would the Indians care, with Chisenhall coming up behind him? Are they that desparate for a RH bat?

So with all those additions, where is the list of those who weren't protected, and now are subjected to get chosen in the upcoming Rule V draft? Not everyone, just a list of who is likely to get chosen.

I think they had to protect de la Cruz. Is he major league ready? No. Does his injury deflate his value as a prospect? Sure. But he would have more upside than anyone in the Rule 5 draft, and they probably would have lost him to a non-contending team in 2010 that would have stashed him on the DL or otherwise limited his usage next year. McBride is a 24-year-old without a decent bat and no position; his receiving skills are VERY raw. Lofgren I could see a team taking a chance on, but right now he's at best in the 20-30 range in that farm system.

I am curious if BA was surprised by any of the additions, or non-additions, especially regarding my team, the Indians. The Cleveland addition I thought least deserved was Wes Hodges. Some others questioned de la Cruz since he's only had 14 innings in High A and doubted he would be drafted. Who did Cleveland leave off? Matt McBride who had a solid Arizona after a passable AA debut. Chuck Lofgren who debuted at AAA and peaked as a BA No. 2 prospect.

Is there a database for international signings that required for this year's 40 man roster additions. I would like to know. Thanks

One more should be added to Detroit in brackets: RHP Jay Sborz was added to the Tigers' 40-man roster on November 6 to prevent him from becoming a minor league free agent.
