It is. Some of those young arms will flame out; it’s just what happens, it’s hard to be a major league pitcher. Tampa already has shown a willingness to deal pitchers (Kazmir) and a willingness to be very patient with pitchers. Niemann spent two years in Triple-A; Davis has spent parts of two seasons there. Hellickson might be on that same plan.

Okay, so somebody’s gotta get traded then, right?
With Moore, Barnese, McGee, and Lobstein also on the horizon, what are they going to do with all these power arms in the next 2-3 years? Seems like a good problem to have!

Hard to imagine he’d have the advantage over Davis, who has much more experience and pretty fine stuff himself. Don’t forget Andy Sonnanstine, who has had MLB success and is also an affordable option. But Hellickson’s poise and fastball command make him look pretty big league ready from here.

Hell-boy was impressive again! Is he the Rays’ #5 guy heading into spring training? I assume Garza-Shields-Niemann-Price as of right now? Or does Wade Davis have the inside track?

You fail to mention that Walters gave up only 1 earned run in that start.
