I've been searching for information on Daniel Hudson's stuff all season. Thanks for putting this together Ben!

Who do you prefer right now: Hudson or Jason Knapp?

Regarding Dan Hudson, I don't know how unusual or common it is for pitchers to rise through so many levels in one season as Hudson has, but there is a precedent in the White Sox organization of a guy starting in Class A and finishing the same season in the majors and getting at least one win in all four levels.
Lefty Ross Baumgarten, a 20th-round pick in 1977 from the University of Florida, began the 1978 season in Class A Appleon, where he went 9-1 in 10 started. Baumgarten stopped briefly at Double-A Knoxville, where he went 2-1. Then he was 5-4 in 9 starts at Triple-A Iowa before getting a callup to make his major-league debut on Aug. 16. Note that he had a decision in EVERY minor-league start that season. Baumgarten's debut was a start against the Rangers and he allowed 2 runs in 6 innings to get a W.
He got knocked around a bit by the Ryoals in his second start, then pitched a 5-hit CG shutout against the Indians in his third.
He didn't make it out of the first inning in his fourth and final start against the Orioles on Sept. 1, then had three relief appearances as the season wound down.
I can't say for certain it is true, but I remember the Chicago media reporting at the time gthat it was the first time someone had at least one W in four levels from Class A to the majors in one season.

Ben,

Check out Josh Wilkie, SYR Chiefs, for this week's Hot Sheet. Great numbers in HAR in the EL (All-Star). Promoted to SYR and last nine appearances have been scoreless with a dominant K/BB ratio. I know I'm biased because I'm his dad, but he really does have a good storyline- NDFA out of George Washington University in '06. Risen stradily through the ranks. Thanks, Jim Wilkie
