The duo will replace Jorge Julio (released) and Mark DiFelice (ailing). Burns, 30, went 6-2, 2.98 in 10 starts for the Sounds, striking out 40 and walking 11 in 63 1/3 innings. Pitching exclusively in relief at Nashville, Smith, 28, converted 12 of 14 saves while striking out 35 batters and walking four in 32 2/3 innings.
