Don’t expect blanks to be up in the bigs very long, I live in Portland and go to a ton of beavers games and blanks is a TERRIBLE left fielder. The only reason he got called up is because the padres have a series in Oakland this weekend and he can either dh or play first while Gonzalez dh’s. I think this is just a quickie trip up to see how he handles big league pitching.

I am also excited about some our prospects…we had a great draft last year!!! alot of our picks are doing really well in the minors right now jaff dacker and james darnell really are looking good!!! I am also excited about blanks I would love it if we got rid of giles and gave him an every day spot. tony gwynn looks good out in center I really hope he sticks!!! there is alot to be excited about, our future is looking up.

Now is the time to release Mr. Giles, move Headley
to his natural position third and trade Kooz… I know that may not be a popular opinion but will help
this club…Blanks in left, Gwynn in center and Venable in right….I am getting excited about the Padres future

San Diego is certainly not bringing him up to play first base, since the current guy is hitting .282/.420/.617 with 7 doubles, 23 HR and 45 RBI (as well as the current NL Gold Glove at 1B).

It’s about time. Blanks’ high OBP has shown that he has the patience neede to go along with his obvious power. This combination of patience and power should serve the Padres well by providing another bat to protect Gonzalez.
