The Arizona Diamondbacks moved today to fill the hole left by departed pitching coach Bryan Price. Price’s replacement is Mel Stottlemyre, Jr. Stottlemyre was formerly the D’Backs’ minor league pitching coordinator. The shakeup moves Jeff Pico, formerly the pitching coach for Arizona’s Double-A affiliate Mobile BayBears, to the team’s minor league pitching coordinator position. Replacing Pico in the BayBears’ clubhouse is Dan Carlson, who returns to Mobile after spending a year in short-season Yakima. Carlson was the BayBears’ pitching coach in 2007 as well.
