I'm a Royals fan and I follow their minors some. De La Vara is your basic set-up lefty. He has decent stuff - 1.18 career minor league WHIP, keeps the ball inthe park, and around 8 Ks per 9 innings - but he's been a little old for the league during his minor league progression (didn't make it to rookie ball in the U.S. until age 20). Not sure about his splits to know whether he's more set-up or loogy material. He has a chance to stick, IMO.
