How does the Cubs' purchase of Reds’ No. 7 pick (major league phase) David Patton go without noting--that it was the Cubs who drafted Josh Hamilton in the 2006 Rule 5 draft only to spin him immediately to the Reds.

Not implying Patton will have Hamilton's impact, but find it interesting that the two clubs--who "compete" in the same division--make another Rule 5 swap . . .

The NY Yankees are the king of everything. The greatest sports franchise ever. All these other fans crying...start looking to your owners. Even with luxury tax money they are not spending. The NY Yankees are playing by the rules and are supporting baseball also. Even in a year that they did not make the playoffs they still drew 4 mil. Deal with it...stop blaming the Yankees and start getting on these owners who pocket the money instead of making their teams better.

6 Yankees taken? 0 Red Sox? I thought the Yankees had a weak system and the Sox were overflowing with talent. Anyway I don't think the Yankees lost the next Johan Santana today....

By my count there were only 4 Yankees taken in the major league portion, and 3 were pitchers. Pitchers are easy to hide on the 25 man roster.

How is it that the Yankees don't have any good prospects and yet after protecting 40 teams seem to feel there are still a half dozen major leaguers available.

Maybe they could actually get something for a handful of guys Calis is so ready to dismiss as worthless.
