Ben i guess you are right, i did look pass the other 2. Hopefully Mesoraco will produce better numbers in 09. hopefully his work ethic gets a little better. It will be interesting to see for all reds fans.

Kevin, it should be up early next week. JJ and I talked about Sandoval a little more in the Dec. 17 podcast as well: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/media/podcasts/free/

Mikey, you might be right. But the rest of the Dayton catchers—mostly Jason Bour and Frank Meade—threw out 25.4 percent of base stealers (27/106) this year. Not great, but better than Mesoraco (17.4 percent), and reports from scouts back up the numbers.

i've been to more than a handful of games in dayton this summer and i do not think that mesoraco should get slammed for his caught stealing percentage. it was very very rare to see a pitcher that even held a runner on base.

i dont think superman could throw out runners that steal at will like they do in dayton..

craig albernaz has the best catching abilities in the rays organization. but because he is a NDFA he has to wait until the likes of john jaso fail. his presentage of throwing out runners would top this list if he had the minimum amount of attempts. he has a high number of pick-offs and is a wall behind the plate. all the top prospect in the organization love to throw to him.

and, at times, it’s a move to the mound, a la Carlos Marmol and Troy Percival)

Don't forget Jason Motte. Looks like Derba may be another candidate of the Cardinals to move to the mound...
