Waikiki 8, North Shore 6

Waikiki left fielder Roger Kieschnick (Giants) led a very good offensive night for Waikiki going 2-for-5 with a solo homer. The home run was Kieschnick’s fourth of the HWB league season moving him into second place in that category for the winter. Waikiki shortstop Tony Thomas (Cubs) added a 3-for-5 night with a solo homer of his own. Right fielder Alfredo Silverio (Dodgers) also contributed with a 2-for-5 night with a run and an RBI for the BeachBoys. North Shore’s offense came from several of their top prospects. Designated hitter Ryan Kalish (Red Sox) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two walks. Catcher Jason Castro (Astros) went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI, and short stop Yamaico Navarro (Red Sox) added 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Cubs left hander Jeremy Papelbon picked up his fifth save to lead the HWB.

West Oahu 13, Honolulu 5

West Oahu right fielder Caleb Gindl (Brewers) led the way for the CaneFires going 2-for-5 with a run, a double, and three RBIs. Second baseman Mark Hallberg (Diamondbacks) had another good game going 2-for-4 with three runs, two walks, and two RBIs for the CaneFires. West Oahu’s offense continued to roll with both left fielder Cyle Hankerd (Diamondbacks) and catcher Chris Hatcher (Marlins) each drove in three runs in the rout. Honolulu’s offense had several quality nights, led by first baseman Kala Ka’aihue (Braves) went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs. Ka’aihue’s homer was his fourth of the season to tie him for second in the league. Right fielder Dominic Brown (Phillies) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and catcher Tony Cruz (Cardinals) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
