West Oahu 7, Honolulu 2

West Oahu righthander Timothy Bascom (Orioles) threw five perfect innings to snap the CaneFires’ four-game losing streak with a 7-2 win over Honlulu. Bascom picked up his first Hawaii Winter Baseball win, striking out two in the outing. Bascom, 23, had a 5.78 ERA in 95 innings this year with high Class A Frederick.

West Oahu’s offense was led by first baseman Miles Durham (Pirates) who went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. CaneFire DHr Wally Crancer (Orioles) added a triple and three RBIs in the game. Also contributing for West Oahu were second baseman Mark Hallberg (Diamondbacks) and short stop Brian Friday (Pirates), who added two hits apiece. The only significant offense for the Sharks came from right fielder Ryo Hijirisawa (Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles), who went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI.
