North Shore 6, Honolulu 6
Honolulu was unable to hold a five-run lead as North Shore rallied to tie the abbreviated seven-inning game at 6-6. The teams had agreed to play seven innings due to depleted pitching staffs. North Shore scored six runs on just two hits thanks to six walks from Sharks pitchers. Corey Brown (Athletics) led the Honu with a 1-for-3 day and an RBI. Honolulu had solid days at the plate from several players, including Bradley Emaus (Blue Jays), who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kala Ka’aihue (Braves), who was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Michael Mitchell (Rockies) also stole two bases to extend his total to five.
West Oahu 9, Waikiki 6
West Oahu scored six times in the final three innings and defeated Waikiki 9-6 to keep its perfect record (4-0) in tact. BeachBoys starter Mitsuo Yoshikawa, a 20-year-old with the Nippon Ham Fighters, threw four innings of scoreless ball while striking out seven in his debut. The BeachBoys got their biggest blow from Giants third-round pick Roger Kieschnick, who cracked a two-run homer. Waikiki also got offensive contributions from: Todd Frazier (Reds) 2-for-5, Buster Posey (Giants) 2-for-4, Marquez Smith (Cubs) 2-for-4 with a home run, and James McOwen (Mariners) 2-for-5 with an RBI. The CaneFires offense came from Caleb Gindl (Brewers), who was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and James Skelton (Tigers) who came off the bench to deliver a two-RBI double that put West Oahu ahead for good. Brewers lefthanded reliever Mike Ramlow (2-0) picked up the win, throwing two scoreless innings for West Oahu.
