PIONEER LEAGUE
Great Falls 8, Billings 3 (Great Falls won the best-of-3 series 2-0)
Billings got out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first two innings off of Great Falls righthander Dan Hudson. But the Voyager offense battled back to score eight runs, winning the game and sweeping the series. Great Falls’ two through four hitters each went 2-for-4, including left fielder Johny Celis who hit a solo home run. Hudson eventually settled down and ended up going 6 2/3 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts for the win.
Ogden 8, Orem 6 in 10 innings (The best-of-3 series is tied 1-1)
This game went back and fourth with seven lead changes–including four over the first four innings. Ogden was leading 6-5 heading into the ninth inning, but Orem came through with a clutch two-out run in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. The momentum didn’t carry over, as Ogden put up two of their own in the top of the 10th to win the game and force the series into a deciding third game. Ogden shortstop Devaris Gordon was the Raptors’ leadoff hitter and set the table by going 2-for-5 with two triples in the game.
