Major League Baseball announced 50-game suspensions today for two more young Latin American players, following by less than a week news of five similar failed tests for performance-enhancing substances—here and here
Diamondbacks shortstop Bernardino Jimenez, 17, tested positive for Boldenone. The native of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, batted .170/.316/.214 in 112 at-bats in the Dominican Summer League.
Reds lefthander Renny Amador, 20, tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. Though he was born in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, Amador was playing in the DSL, where he had posted two strikeouts and 10 walks to go with a 3.38 ERA in 2 2/3 innings.
Both players were most recently members of the Diamondbacks/Reds split DSL affiliate.
