Three More Players Suspended

Three more 50-game suspensions for failed performance-enhancing substances tests were handed down today, and in a continuing trend, two of them went to Dominican Summer League players.

Royals 21-year-old righthander Victor Jorge, who signed out of the Dominican in May 2007, tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. He went 0-2, 8.54 for Rookie-level Burlington, with 15 strikeouts and 13 walks in 26 1/3 innings.

Two 20-year-old DSL Diamondbacks righthanders also garnered suspensions. Santo Domingo-born Winfild de la Rosa was 0-1, 8.36 with 12 strikeouts and four walks in 14 innings, while Cotui-born Ramon Mariano, a converted position player, was 2-3, 2.12 with 51 strikeouts and eight walks in 46 2/3 innings. Both pitchers tested positive for a metabolite of Boldenone.
