Brooklyn righthander Christopher Schwinden (Mets) allowed two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings in his first game this season, but has allowed just two earned runs in 33 innings since then. His best performace of the season came on Thursday, as Schwinden yielded just one hit and one walk to Lowell and struck out 12 in seven innings. Schwinden, who lowered his ERA to 1.02 was a 22nd round pick from Fresno Pacific this summer.
It was a day that ended streaks. Boise shortstop Ryan Flaherty (Cubs) went without an extra-base hit for the first time in more than a week. He also committed his fifth error in his last six games. . . Meanwhile, Mike Lorberg (Giants) had hit a home run in four games in a row. He went 3-for-6, but all three hits were singles. . . The hot week for Mahoning Valley shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall (Indians) continued on Thursday, with a 2-for-5 effort, including a double. . . Flaherty and the Boise offense did engouh damage against Salem-Keizer righthander Mike Loree (Giants) to get four runs off Loree in the first inning, but Loree did not allow another run through five innings and Salem-Keizer rallied to win in 11 innings. . . Righthander Neil Ramirez (Rangers) started, pitched two innings and allowed just a walk while ringing up three for Spokane. However, righthander Wilfredo Boscan (Rangers) came on in relief and scattered three hits, walked none and struck out five in five innings to move to an impressive 7-0 in the Northwest League.

Boise righthander Chris Carpenter (Cubs) rejoins the rotation to start tonight against Salem-Keizer.
