Mike Stanton had a monster evening, Cole Rohrbough flirted with a no-hitter and Mike Moustakas took over the Midwest League’s home run lead.

Prospect Of The Day
The Lakewood BlueClaws did everything they could not to let Mike Stanton beat them, but in the end, he did anyway. Greensboro (Marlins) needed 15-innings to knock off Lakewood (Phillies) 8-7, and it was Stanton who put a cap on the proceedings. He went 4-for-5 on the night and drew three walks, two of them intentional during the extra frames. Stanton reached base in seven straight plate appearances after a popping up in the first inning. After having been walked intentionally in his two previous at-bats when there were men on and first base was open, Stanton led off the bottom of the 15th against BlueClaws lefty Moises Melendez and took him deep for his SAL-leading 29th home run of the season.
Prospect Nuggets
Normally, Rome (Braves) lefthander Cole Rohrbough would’ve been an easy choice for POTD after carrying a no-hitter into the eighth inning last night against Hickory (Pirates). Rohrbough lost the no-hit bid on a two-out single up the middle, but nonetheless he worked eight innings and allowed just an unearned run on the one hit, with three walks and seven strikeouts to improve to 3-4, 4.94 … Rohrbough’s performance upstaged the Pirates debut for Hickory righthander Bryan Morris, who was solid in his own right. Morris worked five shutout innings against the Braves and gave up only two hits but walked four. He struck out three … Rome right fielder Jason Heyward reached base in all five of his plate appearances against the Crawdads, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two walks … Charleston (Yankees) righthander Dellin Betances had another strong showing, working 6 2/3 innings against Greenville (Red Sox) and allowing only a run on six hits, with one walk and seven strikeouts. Betances improved to 7-3, 3.57.
What To Watch For Today
There are only four games in the SAL tonight, the best of which will be Heyward and the Braves traveling to Charleston to take on the RiverDogs.
Midwest League
Prospect Of The Day
Mike Moustakas hit two home runs in a 7-4 Burlington (Royals) win over Peoria (Cubs). Moustakas has homered in three straight games and eight times in his last 11 games to take over the MWL’s home run lead from the since-promoted Ian Gac with 20 on the year. He went 2-for-4 with four RBIs on the night.
Prospect Nuggets
Quad Cities (Caridinals) third baseman Brett Wallace went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI … Clinton (Rangers) center fielder Engel Beltre went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, giving him 25 on the year … Dayton (Reds) third baseman Neftali Soto wen 2-for-4 with a double … Cedar Rapids (Angels) lefthander Robert Fish pitched seven shutout innings against Quad Cities, allowing only three hits, two walks and striking out six to improve to 8-4, 4.87.
What To Watch For Today
Righthander Lance Lynn makes his second start for Quad Cities tonight against Cedar Rapids.
