Austin Romine had four hits, David Bromberg struck out 10 and Mike Moustakas and Mike Stanton each went deep.
South Atlantic League
Prospect Of The Day
Charleston (Yankees) DH Austin Romine went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored as the RiverDogs pounded out a 10-3 win over Delmarva (Orioles). Romine’s season hasn’t been as spectacular as that of his tag-team partner behind the plate, Jesus Montero, but the 19-year-old has been very capable in his own right, putting up a line of .284/.322/.404 on the year.
Prospect Of The Day
Speaking of Montero, he went only 1-for-4 but hit his 14th home run of the year, a two-run shot in the first inning off Shorebirds starter Zach Britton … Greensboro (Marlins) center fielder Mike Stanton hit his fourth home run in as many games, going deep for the 33rd time this year as part of a 2-for-4 night against Hickory (Pirates). He added a double as well … Greenville (Red Sox) shortstop Oscar Tejeda went 2-for-4 and hit his second home run of the season in a win over Lexington (Astros).
What To Watch For Today
Lakewood (Phillies) has moved into a tie with West Viriginia (Brewers) atop the SAL North. Tonight, Lakewood will go for its third straight win over Savannah (Mets), while West Viriginia will try to avoid being swept at Augusta (Giants).
Midwest League
Prospect Of The Day
Beloit (Twins) righthander David Bromberg tossed seven shutout innings against Quad Cities (Cardinals). He struck out 10 and allowed just three hits and two walks, but was denied a win after the Snappers’ bullpen gave up five runs in the ninth. Bromberg leads the MWL in strikeouts by a wide margin with 149 on the year, while his closest competition has 125.
Prospect Nuggets
Burlington (Royals) third baseman Mike Moustakas hit his 21st home run as part of a 2-for-6 night … Diamonbacks first-round pick Daniel Schlereth debuted for South Bend after getting called up from Rookie-level Missoula. Schlereth pitched a scoreless eighth inning as the Silver Hawks knocked off Fort Wayne (Padres), retiring all three hitters he faced and striking out one … Beloit center fielder Ben Revere went 2-for-3 and stole three bases. Revere faces an uphill battle if he’s going to hit .400 for the year, as he’s endured a little bit of a slump that’s made his line dip to .380/.433/.498 … Burlington lefthander Danny Duffy fanned eight in four innings wile giving up three runs—all unearned—on two hits and two walks.
What To Watch For Today
Righthander Phillippe Aumont (4-4, 2.64) is scheduled to make his first start since coming back from injury tonight as Wisconsin (Mariners) hosts Peoria (Cubs).
