Prospect Of The Day
High Desert (Mariners) shortstop Carlos Triunfel is on an absolute tear. After going over 550 career at-bats without a home run, he’s hit seven in his last 156. Yesterday he went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a home run and stolen base. It was his 24th swiped bag in 31 attempts.
Prospect Nuggets
Lancaster (Red Sox) outfielder Jason Place has also been turning up his offense lately. Yesterday he was 1-for-4 with a home run, his 14th, and two runs scored…Bakersfield (Rangers) third baseman Johnny Whittleman was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI.
What To Watch For Today
Modesto (Rockies) and San Jose (Giants) are separated by half a game in the Cal League’s North Division. They begin a pivotal three-game series tonight.
Carolina League
Prospect Of The Day
Kinston (Indians) catcher Carlos Santana had his first big day since coming over in the Casey Blake deal. He was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored against Salem (Astros).
Prospect Nuggets
Frederick (Orioles) righthander Brandon Erbe should be owed dinner or something from his teammates. He tossed a six-inning gem, allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking two. But he dropped to 8-10 after his offense could muster only one run after his exit and the bullpen surrendered eight in the eighth inning.
What To Watch For Today
Myrtle Beach (Braves) and Lynchburg (Pirates) will finish up their suspended game, starting at 6 p.m. ET, followed by their regularly scheduled contest.

Prospect Nuggets
Lakeland (Tigers) righthander Cody Satterwhite, the Tigers’ second-round pick this year, has started his career with 8 2/3 scoreless innings. He tossed one inning yesterday, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out two…Brevard County (Brewers) righthander Jeremy Jeffress went 5 1/3, allowing just one run on four hits and four walks while striking out eight. He didn’t get a decision…Daytona (Cubs) second baseman Tony Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI…Clearwater (Phillies) lefthander Joe Savery got hit hard again. He lasted just one inning, allowing eight runs on eight hits and four walks. He struck out one and fell to 5-9, 4.46.

Righthander Rick Porcello takes his 6-6, 2.83 record to the hill against Sarasota’s (Reds) potent lineup.
