High A Dish: Donaldson, Taylor Turn In Big Nights

California League

Prospect Of The Day

Stockton (Athletics) catcher Josh Donaldson simply has not cooled off since coming over from the Cubs. He raised is average to .388 last night after going 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs.

Prospect Nuggets

Lake Elsinore (Padres) second baseman Eric Sogard was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base…High Desert (Mariners) shortstop Carlos Triunfel was 3-for-4 with a run scored…San Jose (Giants) righthander Tim Alderson had another impressive outing, throwing six innings and allowing just two runs on six hits. He walked none and struck out four, but his offense couldn’t get it together and he was stuck with a loss, dropping him to 11-4, 2.99.
What To Watch For Today

Righthander Wes Roemer gets the start for Visalia (Diamondbacks) against High Desert.

Carolina League

Prospect Of The Day

Frederick (Orioles) first baseman Brandon Snyder certainly wasn’t intimidated by Potomac (Nationals) lefthander Ross Detwiler getting the start. Snyder was 4-for-5 with an RBI and run scored as the Keys strung together eight runs on 10 hits for an 8-6 victory.

Prospect Nuggets

Detwiler was spared the loss because of a five-run eighth inning. He went five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk. He struck out six…Winston-Salem (White Sox) righthander John Ely inched closer to evening up his record. He tossed six innings against Wilmington (Royals), allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. He struck out four and walked none and now sits at 8-11, 4.59.

What To Watch For Today

The two division leaders do battle today as Myrtle Beach (Braves) plays host to Potomac in the series opener.

Florida State League

Prospect Of The Day

Can’t argue much on this one. Clearwater (Phillies) left fielder Michael Taylor went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs against Lakeland (Tigers) last night. That gives him six in the FSL.

Prospect Nuggets

Just as he was making a bid for the much-dreaded Not So Hot list, Jupiter (Marlins) first baseman Logan Morrison went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in an 11-inning win…Brevard County (Brewers) catcher Jonathan Lucroy has cooled off tremendously. After going 1-for-5 last night he is now hitting .167 in his last ten games with just two extra base hits…Lakeland righthander Robbie Weinhardt got touched up for the first time. He went two innings against Clearwater and gave up two runs on three hits, but struck out three. He’s only given up three earned runs in 32 pro innings.

What To Watch For Today

Clearwater center fielder Quinitn Berry has run his hit streak to 30 games and will look to extend the mark tonight against Tampa (Yankees).
