Prospect Of The Day
Collin Cowgill’s (Diamondbacks) promotion to low Class A means that Sawyer Carroll is left to pick up the offensive load for Eugene. As the designated hitter on Monday, Carroll went 3-for-5 and fell a single short of the cycle. His fourth home run of the season was a grand slam, helping Carroll tally five RBIs on the day.
Prospect Nuggets
On a rehabilitation assignment with Everett, lefthander Ryan Feierabend (Mariners) allowed two runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings, but struck out nine. . . Reese Havens (Mets) had a big day, going 3-for-5 with a double and his third home run of the season for Brooklyn. Cyclones’ third baseman Zachary Lutz (Mets) also homered. Angel Pagan (Mets) is rehabing with Brooklyn and he went 1-for-4. In three games, Pagan is 2-for-11 with three stolen bases. . . Steven Susdorf (Phillies) joined short-season late because he was busy winning a College World Series with Fresno State. He is hitting .412 through his first five games, thanks in part to going 4-for-6 with three doubles in a doubleheader. . . Susdorf’s run is reminiscent of Dennis Raben’s (Mariners) blistering start a week earlier. Raben went 0-for-4, failing to get a hit for the first time in 10 games this season. . . Brock Huntzinger (Red Sox), a righthander, threw five shutout innings in the first game of Lowell’s doubleheader and lowered his ERA to 0.58.
What To Watch For Today
The New York-Penn League does not have any games scheduled. In the Northwest League, lefthander Ari Ronick (Giants) gets the start as Salem-Keizer hosts Vancouver.
