Prospect Of The Day

Salt Lake shortstop Brandon Wood (Angels) clubbed his fifth home run (19) in his past seven games in going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. His power-hitting exploits got him recognized on this week’s Prospect Hot Sheet.

Prospect Nuggets

Salt Lake 2B Sean Rodriguez (Angels) broke out of a mini skid by crushing two solo home runs (18) in a 2-for-3 game . . . Colorado Springs 1B Joe Koshansky (Rockies) went 2-for-3 with a home run (19), a double (31) and four RBIs.

INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE

Prospect Of The Day

Indianapolis third baseman Neil Walker (Pirates) collected his third two-hit game in his past four contests, going 2-for-4, with a pair of doubles (22), two runs and three RBIs. The Indians routed Charlotte 8-3.

Prospect Nuggets

Durham RHP Jeff Niemann (Rays) turned in six strong innings at Lehigh Valley. He struck out five, walked none and gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits. Niemann, 25, has been scalding-hot in July, as he’s 2-2, 1.59 with 34 strikeouts, 10 walks and no home runs allowed in 34 innings . . . Toledo SS Michael Hollimon (Tigers) went 1-for-2 with a solo home run (14) in a game shortened to five innings by rain . . . Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RHP Ian Kennedy (Yankees) struck out seven and walked one in the second game of a doubleheader against Richmond. He gave up one run and one hit in seven innings.

What To Watch For Today

Durham RHP Wade Davis (Rays) makes his second Triple-A start, at home against Louisville.
