To create at-bats for returned-from-the-DL first baseman Micah Hoffpauir, Fox was demoted to Double-A. He had 17 extra-base hits in 29 game with Iowa, but was batting just .222/.242/.479 overall.

He joins Andrew McCutchen and Steve Pearce in the Indianapolis outfield, all three waiting for a chance to play for the rebuilding Pirates.

With a floundering offense (but terrific pitching staff), Toronto opted not to give Lind (1-for-19) a more extended look at this time. Instead they’re hoping to squeeze a little life out of outfielders Mench and Brad Wilkerson (a major league free agent sign not shown). Injuries to shortstops David Eckstein and John McDonald necessitated the promotion of 32-year-old minor league veteran Jorge Velandia, who has batted .188 in 229 big league at-bats.
