Diamondbacks shortstop Donnie Sadler, who has spent most of the season with Triple-A Tucson, failed a drug of abuse test and was suspended for 50 games.
Though Sadler, 32, has amassed 418 big league games—the majority of them for the Red Sox—he was hitting just .214/.348/.366 in the Pacific Coast League this season. Ever the utilityman, Sadler had also seen time at second and third base as well as all three outfield spots.
