Hilligoss Wins SAL All-Star MVP In Losing Effort

The South Atlantic League’s Southern and Northern divisions squared off last night in Rome, Ga.

The North needed just four hits to secure its 3-1 victory, with all their runs coming in the fourth innings. Greensboro second baseman Chris Coghlan had an RBI double and scored on Lake County first baseman Matt Whitney’s double. Lake County catcher Matt McBride knocked in Whitney with a sacrifice fly.

Despite the loss, Charleston third baseman Mitch Hilligoss took home the MVP trophy for his 3-for-5 performance, which included a double and the lone run batted in for the South.
