Detroit suspended righthanded reliever Roman Colon for seven days because of a physical altercation with teammates during a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Colon apparently suffered a left shoulder contusion during the altercation. Farm director Dan Lunetta told the Free Press that no other players were suspended in the altercation (Lunetta did not immediately return a phone call from BA and Toledo interim manager Mike Rojas could not be reached).

Colon, acquired from the Braves in 2005 as part of a trade for Kyle Farnsworth, was 0-1, 3.60 in six relief appearances for the Mud Hens.

“He’s sorry there was any kind of incident,” Colon’s agent, Paul Kinzer, told the Free Press. “There are always personality differences and conflicts in a small clubhouse and that’s the way it happened.

“He’s been a good guy his whole career. This is his first incident like this.”
