ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.–Our quote of the day comes from Devil Rays third baseman Evan Longoria, on playing for the Devil Rays:
“I’m sure this is what everybody on the team says, but for me the goal just has to be to just do something better every year. If we can put together quality year after quality year I think we’re going to be OK. There are plenty of teams out there with 80 years of history or more. We have 10. It’s not going to happen overnight, but we definitely have the right guys to do what we need to do.”
Longoria, along with uber-prospect Reid Brignac, are seen as the future of the left side of the Rays infield. And both with pick up where they left off last season–Double-A Montgomery–where they helped the Biscuits win the Southern League title.

It’s very nice to see Longoria embrace his team when guys like Dukes and Young gave an incorrrect image of the organization last year. I just wonder when all the pieces will fall into place and create the right mix to compete in the AL East. Longoria should be at 3rd base in my opinion.
