Our latest BAPR Plus looks at how the prospects with the Cleveland Indians have done this spring.

Who’s Hot: Adam Miller won’t begin the season in the Indians rotation, but he did everything he could to show that he’s nearly ready to join the Indians rotation. In fact, if it wasn’t for an established group of starters at the big league level, Miller would likely be moving to Cleveland, but with the team’s rotation depth, he’s currently the seventh starter on the depth chart. Miller’s spring stats were unimpeachable–14 innings, zero runs, eight hits, three walks and eight strikeouts.

“As impressive as his stuff is,” manager Eric Wedge said, “I really liked the way he handled himself when he got into situations.”

Relievers Tom Mastny (1.80 ERA in 15 innings) and Juan Lara (0.73 ERA in 12 innings) traded zeroes throughout the spring in a battle for the final spot in the Indians bullpen. Mastny ended up winning the spot because the Indians feel more comfortable in his ability to throw extended innings if needed–he was a starteras recently as 2005.

Who’s Not: It’s hard to find any Indians’ prospect who didn’t have at least a so-so spring. No. 2 prospect Chuck Lofgren was hit hard (33.50 ERA), but he made only two appearances for 1.1 innings. Outfielder Brad Snyder hit .167, but he walked five times in 17 plate-appearances for a .412 on-base percentage.
