Will scouting reports for the AFLAC participants be provided by BA?
Posted by JAYPERS | July 8, 2010 at 10:21 am | ShortcutWe’ll be doing a player feature and capsules like last year in our next issue and will put it online closer to the game.
Posted by Nathan Rode | July 8, 2010 at 10:32 am | ShortcutI hope Mengden pitches as well. Very interesting prospect on the mound.
Posted by Jeff Sullivan | July 8, 2010 at 1:10 pm | ShortcutNathan, anyone omitted from these rosters than surprises you? Delmonico & Starling seem to come to mind. Not knocking the players there – they are all great of course.
Posted by Joe LeCates | July 8, 2010 at 1:26 pm | ShortcutKeep in mind the Under Armour Game is the day before, so some might be at that game instead. Have to wait and see.
Posted by Nathan Rode | July 8, 2010 at 1:35 pm | ShortcutDid Henry Owens shrink in the last 2 weeks? He's no less than 6'5. Michael Kelly is closer to 6'3 190 as well.
Posted by Bill | July 8, 2010 at 1:44 pm | ShortcutWill these kids be allowed to play in the Under Armour event as well?
Those heights/weights are given to us, so I’m not really sure where AFLAC got them from, but Owens is definitely not 6-foot-1. These players can’t play in the Under Armour Game. Theoretically, they could, but the games on Saturday and Sunday in Chicago and San Diego. Plus, they have workouts in the days leading up to the games so it’s one or the other this year.
Posted by Nathan Rode | July 8, 2010 at 2:11 pm | ShortcutKeep preaching Mengden, Sully. They got your bot Magliozzi too.
Posted by blackie | July 9, 2010 at 4:53 pm | ShortcutDelmonico was the first omission I thought of too, Joe. I was really hoping to see him play. This is super solid line-up and there are just too many deserving kids to fit everyone in. I think they did a great job of getting some consensus top names. Here's hoping the hitters are ready this year. Last year's pitchers were just overwhelming.
Why would they do something so staggeringly stupid as to have Under Armor and Aflac on back-to-back days? I can't imagine anyone is happy about that.
Posted by Dan | July 9, 2010 at 11:07 pm | ShortcutThey’re run by different organizations that don’t collaborate. It’s silly. We’ll probably get into that later.
Posted by Nathan Rode | July 10, 2010 at 4:23 pm | ShortcutI would like some one that knows something about baseball talant with the Aflac organization other then who ever picked the Aflac teams that knows NOTHING about basebal talant how they could over look Sam Bragg a player that pitched a starting high school game with 14 strike outs in a row 17 total in the game, with a write up in Baseball America, pitch a NO NO in the Perfect Game 18 year old tournament in FT Myers, pitched to only 4 players more than a perfect game. And if you guys do not know what a NO NO is go to the Perfect Game Blog.
Posted by The Games Baseball | August 20, 2010 at 4:25 pm | ShortcutHow many pitchers that you guys picked for Aflac has this in their resume'????
