Two Schools Represented Well On Team USA Rosters

Team USA has announced its trials rosters for the 18U, 16U and 14U teams. Between 18U and 16U, two schools are represented well with four players each making a roster. Gulliver Prep (Miami) has four players on the 16U squad in catcher Chris Chinea, infielder/outfielder Adrian Marin, infielder Eric Neitzel and lefthanded pitcher Ivan Pelaez. Gulliver advanced to the Florida 3-A finals, but lost to defending champion The Bolles School (Jacksonville).

Edison High in Huntington Beach, Calif. has three players on the 18U roster and one on the 16U. Outfielder Eric Snyder, shortstop Christian Lopes and lefthander Henry Owens participated in the Tournament of Stars this week and made the trials roster. Lopes' younger brother, infielder Timmy, landed on the 16U trials team. The Lopes brothers transferred into Edison before the 2010 season, making them a favorite to win a section title in California. The Chargers were No. 3 in the preseason Top 25, but had a disappointing season and lost early in the playoffs. They, along with Gulliver Prep, will certainly be a factor in the 2011 rankings.

Farragut High (Knoxville), Bishop Amat High (La Puente, Calif.) and Cathedral Catholic HS (San Diego) each had two players named to one of the trials rosters.
