Dodgers Sign Gould For $900,000

The Dodgers signed Maize (Kan.) High righthander Garrett Gould for $900,000 on Friday. His bonus is the highest in the second round so far this year and the highest paid by Los Angeles. Gould was the Dodgers’ third choice in the draft and received $337,500 more than MLB’s recommendation for his draft slot (No. 65).

Gould’s fastball jumped from 88-91 last year to 91-94 mph this spring, and he also had one of the best curveballs in the draft. He has an athletic 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame, though some scouts don’t like his arm action. He had committed to Wichita State.

Sure St. Louis will sign Miller any others???

1st rounder Nick Franklin is reportedly in Seattle to take his physical. Have you heard anything about whether a signing is certain or not?

Re Cardinals: I’m confident they’ll sign Miller, not sure what else they have cooking. Besides Miller, the Cardinals have signed all of their picks in the top 15 rounds.

Re Franklin: I’m hearing the same thing. Wouldn’t say “certain” but I’m pretty sure a deal will get done. Just so everyone knows where we’re coming from, we’re blogging deals once we’ve confirmed the terms, not blogging rumors or guys getting physicals, etc.
