From the limited information that has been released, it appears the draft-cap values for each pick in the first 10 rounds will be roughly 50 percent higher than the old unilateral MLB slots.
If the proposed financial increase (50%) of the slotting occurs, with the Blue Jays having a multitude of picks in the first two rounds as well as sandwich picks up to 7 picks , would they have roughly same dollar amount as 2011 to select. Last year they had almost 6.5 million that they could spend. And they were over there slotted position by 5% because they did not sign Beede, otherwise they would have been 30% over.
Since the pool would be for the first 10 rounds they could go all out in their first 7 picks, and not sign any of their later picks. Alternatively, they could skip a 1st pick and a sandwich pick ( gain two picks next year)and sign the lower picks.
I would appreciate your insight. Happy Turkey Day
