Bill and Tony--
Thank you for the questions. I'm sorry I did not see these earlier. I hope you're still interested. Bill, I'm assuming Robert Alexander is Alexander Robinson from Holy Trinity HS in New York. He did show some flashes, working between 84-87 and peaking at 88 at this particular event, but his mechanics need some work. He had a wild Dontrelle Willis-like leg kick that made it difficult for him to repeat his delivery and release point. He also showed a slider and change-up. He's committed to Maryland and with some fine tuning, could be intriguing.
As for Hernandez-Lopez, he has lanky size and caught at this event, but doesn't fit the prototypical catcher's build. He hit a home run in his first game and didn't do too much else, pulling off pitches a lot. He seemed out of whack because he got a bad case of the yips behind the plate. Hopefully that's behind him now.
Tony, I should have mentioned Gayle in the write-up. He certainly showed some pop in the final game, so my apologies to him. He looked like an all-around solid player, but he did not stand out in any one facet of the game until his 3-for-4 afternoon in the finals. I had heard he was committed to Missouri at some point but now hear he is headed to Indian River JC in Florida after high school.

It seems to be no mention of Jabari Gayle, the offensive player of the championship game, who went 3 for 4 and just missed the cycle by a homerun that barely went foul. Where is the love ?

What was the consensus on lefty, Robert Alexander from Holy Trinity, Jose Hernadez-Lopez catcher from Lake Wales HS, Fla. Both showed me some flashes to keep an eye on for 2012. What did you think?
