Dodgers, Pederson Agree On $600,000

The Dodgers and 11th-round pick Joc Pederson have agreed to terms on a $600,000 bonus, four times MLB's recommended $150,000 maximum for choices after the fifth round. It's also the largest bonus Los Angeles has paid out so far to a 2010 draftee, though they're expected to make a well-over-slot run at first-round pick/Louisiana State quarterback Zach Lee.

An outfielder from Palo Alto (Calif.) High, Pederson has the potential for average or better tools across the board. He had committed to Southern California.

Is this guy gonna be any good? CF long term or Corner outfielder? enough power for that position??

The kid is very good.  Watched him play in the Hawaii Collegiate Summer League this past year and as a Dodgers fan, I'm stoked.  Big kid, very mature for a recent high school graduate, carries himself like a very confident college all-american player.  He's very athletic as he was also a star wide receiver in football from what I understand.  He played CF in the games I watched, but he's probably also good enough to play the corner positions.  It was a wood bat league and he carried himself very well against kids 1-3 years older than him.  He's the son of former Dodgers minor leaguer Stu Pederson and has an older brother playing baseball at UOP, so he comes from a very athletic, baseball family.  Surprised by the bonus amount, as I was thinking more in lines of $250,000-$300,000, but since we're not signing Gausman and may not get Lee, the money has to go somewhere.  He's a more like a 3rd to 5th round talent who just happened to be drafted in the 11th round.
