That makes sense on Cowart and what I foudn interesting was that someone not only sees him as a pitcher, but also as their top guy behind Taillon. In this class that's saying something. And yes, the Gulliver Prep outing was widely reported on re Gausman. I agree that one outing isn't going to knock a pitcher down too badly, but most reports noted vastly diminished velo from Gausman, which means that subsequent viewings will likely hone in on that. Obviously the hope was that it was just a bad day, but in a class this tight, when scouting directors are looking for daylight between tightly bunched players, it can play a part.

Conor,
Well it's been a month and a half since BA's HS draft preview and I'm the impatient sort so I was looking for names of guys who have crept up into the "9 behind Taillon" for these evaluators. For instance, what arms do guys maybe like ahead of Bedrosian, Smelter, Cisco? Not necessarily the next nine on BA's preview list, but just off the top of your head.

Thanks, Joe. We probably won't do something like this for every position, though.

Blackie - The 9th-place votes for Cowart are because teams are split on whether he's a pitcher or a third baseman. It is interesting, though. As for Gausman, (I assume you're talking about the Gulliver Prep game?) the voting was done right around that time - most of the votes came in before that game, but one bad outing isn't going to change things a whole lot.

I'm sorry, Dillon, I'm not sure what you mean. I think you're asking, 'If you asked teams to rank their next nine guys instead of ranking your next nine guys, who else would be in the discussion?' Is that right? The next group of HS pitchers includes guys like: John Barbato, Aaron Sanchez, Peter Tago, A.J. Vanegas, Jordan Shipers, Kevin Ziomek & Jesse Biddle

The top three here seem to play according to slowly forming consensus this spring. Fascinating spread on Cowart. Talk about divided opinion. I'd love to know who liked him best after Taillon. Was this poll conducted before or after Gausman's recent tough outing, Conor?
