This should come as no surprise to anyone. This young man is a product of the ridiculous Ontario so called "elite" baseball system. Kids like Jake are told from an early age that they are better than everyone else and given everything and anything they could ever want. They play on teams that teach them that it is more important to travel around North America than it is to go to school and work at earning acceptance into a university or college. They are not required to work at anything. For Jake Eliopoulos to turn down an opportunity to play professional baseball with a HUGE signing bonus is an absolute joke. He has yet to touch velocity over 88 mph. He has never been a hard thrower and the bluejays only drafted him in the 2nd round because he is a Canadian. He was an 8th rounder at best in 2009 and he will now drop from there. It's sad really, and unfortunate that someone gave him the horrible advice last year to remain unsigned. He could have cashed a big cheque and put himself into a position with the Bluejays that they would have been forced to work with him and instead he got RIPPED at a Jr. College!
