Boy howdy. So Hultzen *just misses* again with his 8IP 3H 1ER 1BB 12K outing but fellow sophomore Ryan Carpenter's latest rough outing merits inclusion? Hultzen is the Friday starter on the #1 team in your rankings. At this point it gets sort of embarrassing. Oh, and Parker had a good series against Va Tech, going 4 for 11 with 5 runs, 2 RBI, 2BB and 3K and his 9th home run, most of the damage being done in the Saturday doubleheader. It was a comparably strong weekend to opponent Austin Wates'.

Hultzen "just missed" again because the list has been the same from the get-go. We had to submit a list of players we wanted to get stats for at the beginning of the season so, like I've said before, lines had to be drawn somewhere. These stats are complied and presented to you in a nice, clean chart for free each week. It's going to remain the same group of players for the time being, but if you want to update everyone on Hultzen & Parker every Monday, be my guest.

Actually, it was never explained that the list was submitted before the season (certainly not in your initial response), although I was beginning to suspect that was the case.  And I don't appreciate the flip remark about the stats being free. I pay for the magazine, website and a couple of your books, which is a significant outlay of cash. I'm not, however, paying for attitude, so you can keep that. It's not my fault you guys decided — against all evidence – that Ryan Carpenter is a better prospect than Hultzen or Trevor Bauer. Or that you needed to track the stats of 21(!) seniors rather than those of underclassmen. I know, you had to draw the line…

It's certainly not against all evidence that Carpenter is a better prospect than Hultzen or Bauer.

More seniors were given priority because we're looking at how draft prospects fared—the exact same reason there are so few sophomores.

With your complete explanation I can understand the restraints on swapping in names. However, as a consumer of your product, my feedback is that I'm much more interested who my team may be looking to draft on Day One for the next three years, not the guys they'll be taking in Round 28. This list would do well to emulate the minor league prospect list in that regard. Jeff Walters' mom probably cares about his draft prospects, but I doubt the average BA reader does. If you gave less room to guys like that, debates over Carpenter vs. Bauer/Hultzen would be null as all three could reasonably be included.
And while I now understand that you had to submit a list before the beginning of the season, that's a pretty significant flaw to burden a draft tracker with, a proposition which is fluid by definition. I look forward to a new and improved version.
