The Rangers have signed Florida outfielder/wide receiver Riley Cooper, their 25th-round pick for $250,000. The terms of the deal will allow Cooper to play his senior season of football for the defending national champion Gators before becoming a full-time baseball player in January.
Cooper’s bonus will be paid in full and not spread over multiple years like many deals for two-sport athletes are, and it represents $100,000 more than MLB’s recommended maximum for players selected after the fifth round.
A quality athlete at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Cooper hit .247 as a part-time outfielder for Florida in the spring. He’s still raw in baseball but has tremendous speed and power potential.

He must be a good athlete as he K’d a lot with Florida this year. Seems like the kid may make out like a bandit if he can stay healthy.
