Padres Sign Williams For $775,000

The Padres have signed second-round pick Everett Williams for $775,000, slightly above MLB’s $684,000 recommendation for the No. 52 slot.

An outfielder from McCallum High in Austin, Williams was arguably the best hitter among a deep crop of athletic outfielders in this draft. He had committed to Texas.

Is it true that Eliopoulos is not signing with the Jays?

Do you like Williams more than Heathcott?

That means the Pads got Tate, Williams, and Samson-that’s impressive!

It’s impressive if you like the high-risk, high-reward types. Taking three of those type players can set your organization back a few years if none of them pans out. Usually teams will mix those type guys in with other guys who are more sure bets. Kudos to the Pads if those guys become solid players. I personally believe they got a bargain with what they paid for Williams. Tate on the other hand definitely won’t be a bargain.
