The Blue Jays have signed Poly High (Riverside, Calif.) outfielder Jacob Marisnick for $1 million. That’s the third-highest bonus in the third round and more than three times MLB’s $309,600 recommendation for slot No. 106.
Marisnick is a potential five-tool athlete with plus speed and good power potential. He had committed to Oregon.
Toronto has yet to sign sandwich pick James Paxton, second-rounder Jake Eliopoulos or additional third-rounder Jake Barrett.

Too bad for Oregon. Now they’ll have to cross their fingers on Matzek.

Posted by CAZConn | August 17, 2009 at 6:01 pm | ShortcutThe more of these late signings that come in the more I’m impressed by the Rays ability to get their hard signs done, with the exception of Diekroger, for far less bonus money then most teams are having to shell out. WAY TO GO ANDREW AND GERRY!!! Glaesmann has some serious potential, love that we got him signed.
Any word on Jabari Blash yet?
Also, is Tanner Scheppers in the same class as Aaron Crow, whereas he doesn’t have the same deadline to sign and is under rights to the Rangers until right before next years draft? If not, is there any chance Scheppers gets done tonight? This could be like another Matt Harrington situation.

Any news on Matz/Magnifico/Buchanan? Any Mets draft news? Bueller?
Posted by CMG | August 17, 2009 at 6:27 pm | ShortcutHow much money will this leave in the pot for Toronto to sign Barrett? I’ve seen others commenting that Eliopoulos seems to be leaning more towards LBSU or juco — is Toronto more likely to just throw the kitchen sink at Barrett now?
Posted by Mark | August 17, 2009 at 6:34 pm | ShortcutYes, conflicting reports on Glenn. No new news on their unsigned guys.
