A’s Sign Stassi For $1.5 Million

The Athletics have signed Yuba City (Calif.) High catcher Max Stassi for $1.5 million. That breaks the fourth-round bonus record set just a few days ago by the Royals’ Chris Dwyer at $1.45 million.

I read in previous comments that he turned down $2 million. Interesting.

What is the status of Green? I have not heard anything about him over the past few weeks. Is he expected to sign?

I’d previously read that he wanted $1.5M with Oak offering $1.25M – if so (big if), Oakland did the right thing by caving, I think – I love this guy’s swing.

Who cares what the A’s do. It’s not like they are going to win something. Beane is like a stock trader, jsut buying and selling junk all the time for a tiny profit. It’s not like he can actually build a competitive team for once. The other teams he inherited franchise cornerstones.

That’s great news! One down and two to go. I knew Green would go down to the wire, just the nature of the business with a high draft pick and Boras, so I’m not really worried about that. But I really hope a deal gets done with Krol too.
