Bill James and all his research has revealed that all the at bats in MLB result in either a Walk , a Strikeout , or a Home Run. Very telling stat . This would suggest that the defensive value of a prospect would be diminished and put more value on the power tool . That being said , Derek Jeter and Wade Boggs both made over 50 errors in their first year of pro ball . Both became stellar defensive players in their careers. This would also suggest that defense is an area where ALL players can and will improve. Thus , in my view , this will lead to MLB putting more value in the power and hit tool than the defensive tool when evaluating the worth of a prospect . Welcome to the future of sabermetric statistics !

With regards to the Astros classic, if you took an all star team of players that were there you might have a better team than the Houston Astros
