As a Kent State alum living in San Diego, this was a great game to watch. Evan Campbell really showed respectable power with his homerun. That air was very heavy and balls didn't carry at all. Skulina fits your Kent State ace mold well - polished with plus velocity.
Bryant's out to right field really impressed me. It was on a low & away fastball by Skulina. You don't see college hitters drive fastballs that hard to the opposite field. During the day, that ball may have hit the wall, and it wasn't more than 10 feet high the whole way. He has some pop!
Look forward to many more games at Fowler Park. Flat out amazing venue.

Good call, John. I liked what I saw from Conlon -- nice sharp breaking ball, and competes with that 85-88 fastball from the left side. He is a good find for the Toreros, will be very valuable there, I have a feeling.

That true freshman, PJ Conlon, is one heck of a find for USD, not one batter has had a good swing on him in his 3 appearances thus far this season. He is so composed and is a true piitcher in the sense of the way he mixes up his stuff. Its nice to see a kid who knows what he's doing on the mound and not some 6'6" giant who gets the ball and throws it as hard as he can, yet has no idea where its going. Conlon is listed as 6'0", 170 lbs. Thats stretching it alittle bit, but the kid can pitch and will get paid one day to do so.
