Kevin, my sense is that the pitching is down somewhat, and that has contributed to the uptick in offensive numbers on the Cape. But I also think part of it is that players have gotten accustomed to hitting with BBCOR bats, and it makes them better hitters, and more capable of making the transition to wood bats. I think it's a combination of those two factors.

Windle had arm problems about a month into the season last year and ended up in the bullpen after starting the season as the #2 starter. The guy can deal. If T.J. Oakes would have returned next season (Signed with the Rockies as an 11th rounder) I think the Gophers would have had one of the better weekend staffs in the country with Oakes, Windle, and then Snelton. If a third weekend starter (I'm guessing Ben Meyer) steps up next season keep an eye on the Gophers.

Also, an FYI. Gopher's pitching coach Todd Oakes was recently diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. I know you guys interviewed Coach Anderson a few years back on a podcast but wasn't sure if you knew or met Coach Oakes so I just thought I'd mention it.

Aaron/Peter-
As a regular watcher of Cape League games for the past dozen years, is there any explanation for the offensive outburst this year on the Cape? What are the scouts saying? Is it just bad pitching or are the hitters that good?
